Speaker Cancelled
Minutes of the 31st Meeting of the 80th Year
President Stephen Schreiber called the meeting to order at 10:15 AM on Zoom. Attending were 129 unique viewers. Guests were Maureen Strazdon (guest of Ferris Olin) and Aline Johnson (guest of Marsha Levin-Rojer). Henry Von Kohorn read the minutes of the April 27, 2022, meeting. Rob Coghan introduced Ann Schmidt as an applicant for membership.
Greg Dobbs, membership chair, announced the proposed members who will be voted upon by Zoom poll next week, May 11, 2022: James Amon, Jonathan Weiner, Constantin Papastephanou, Rainer Muser, and Ann Schmidt. Bio pages will be mailed before the election. Applications will continue to be accepted throughout the summer; since some members will become emeriti during the summer, we should be able to have another election in the fall.

Votes were taken via Zoom poll for the slate of officers (elected by a vote of 97 for, 0 against, with 1 abstention) as well as a proposal by the Executive Committee to raise the dues to $100 per year, an increase of $50 per year (passed by a vote of 92 for, 2 against, with 3 abstentions).
President Schreiber concluded the meeting with the following remarks:
“My two years as your obedient servant have been marked by many firsts: Two years of Zoom talks; the first speakers talking from outside Princeton (New York, Boston, Chicago, Washington, and others); the first minutes read from Nantucket and other cities; the first introductions of speakers from Holland and other places; the first hospitality hours at Springdale Golf Club; two years without a snow cancellation; no meetings interrupted by members' cell phones. Today we have a first of a different kind. We do not have a speaker. Often, we have had to replace speakers, but we have always had time to do that. This time we did not, so you all now have a free hour at home. Thank you very much for your good graces, we will see you next week.”
Respectfully submitted,
Sandra Shapiro
